Along with the global consensus on developing low carbon economy, LED lighting will user in a rapid development opportunity with its advantages of saving energy and reducing consumption. Under the current low carbon trend, LED lighting industry is continuously heating up and gradually replacing the traditional incandescent lamp. But at the same time the heat problem aroused by LED characteristic also has caused concern.

As the world’s leading lighting manufacturers, Philips and Osram also have begun to research LED lighting products very early. Back to 2008, Silanex has cooperated with many major manufacturers to on heat problem to reduce LED TJ and improve service life and efficiency.

Osram LED automobile headlight

Except commercial lighting, Silanex also cooperated with Osram in the field of special lighting and applied adhesive technology to new generation of LED automobile headlight ---- Smart series. The automobile lamp has experienced all sorts of server tests including aging, reliability and hot-cold cycle for three and a half years. It demonstrated that Silanex products have very good performance no matter from conductive part or long-term reliability aspect.




Silanex Encyclopedia: What is LED lighting? Compared with traditional incandescent lamp, what are its advantages?


LED lighting is Lighting Emitting Diode. It is a solid light-emitting semiconductor device. It utilizes solid semiconductor chip as a luminescent material and gives rise to photon emission by the excess energy of carrier compound in semiconductor to emit color light of red, yellow, blue and green. On this basis, it can emit any color light like red, yellow, blue, green, orange, purple or white in use of three primary colors principle by adding fluorescent powder. LED lamps and lanterns is a kind of lighting appliances in use of LED as light source.

In addition, LED has other advantages, high light quality, no radiation, belongs to typical green lighting source. Because of the above advantages , LED will become mainstream light  source in the future.


2. Safety and environmental: no mercury, lead and other heavy metal. LED lighting will launch UV to protect mosquitoes to approach the lamp. It makes the environment more clean and tidy. The work voltage of LED is low, normal working current is 10mA, high brightness is 1A

During the produce of LED, no add “Mercury”, no gas, no glass, good impact resistance, easy to transport, is very environmental. So we call LED “green energy”

3. Long service life: LED has small size, light weight. The shell is epoxy resin, can not only protect the internal chip, but also has the ability of light concentrator. The life of LED is 50000-100000 hours, because LED is a semiconductor device, frequent switching won’t affect the service life.

4. Response speed fast: the response frequency f τ depend on the life of injected minority τMC, as LED made of GaAs, its τ MC generally is in 1-10ns, the response frequency is 16-160MHz. such high response frequency is enough for the video signal of displayed 6.5MHz. this is the key that LED can achieve a big screen.

5. High luminous efficiency: the effect of incandescent, halogen light is 12-24lm/w, fluorescent lighting is 50-70lm/w, sodium lamps is 90-140lm/w. LED can achieve 50-200lm/w. LED has other advantage: good monochromatic light, narrow spectrum, can shine colored light directly without fliters.

6.  LED components is small: it is easier to layout and design of facilities. LED can be better achieved in “only light, not light source” effect.

7. High energy concentration: focus on smaller wavelength window, high purity.

8. Strong directivity of lighting: the brightness degradation of LED lighting is much lower than traditional light sources.

9. Low voltage DC power-driver: LED has the advantage of small load and weak interference. The requirement of operating environment is low.

10. The luminous spectra can be better controlled: LED is a good way for the local and accent lighting in Museum and Gallery.

Application Fields

LED can applied in decoration lamps like bottom lamps, pendant lamps and projection lamps. The refection feature can fully competent in places which have a higher requirement on color light such as galleries and museums. But for other large-scale facilities like shopping malls or office buildings, although the big-scale illumination LED lighting has been developed, due to its low divergence, it causes difficulty on average illuminance design in extensive area. The close arrangement and high design cost of tube-type LED lighting has poor energy saving effect. Therefore, LED lighting is fully available in decoration occasions while large-are interior lighting is not mature yet.

1). Signal: Signal light is relatively early and wide in LED monochromatic light application, accounts for about 4% application markets.

2). Display: The display screen application accounts for about 20%~25% such as signs, billboras, large screen display etc. Display screen can be divided into monochrome and color.

3). Lighting:

① Portable lanterns: Flashlight, head lamp, miner lamp, diving lights

② Auto lamp: High-mount stop lamp, brake lamp, turn light, backup light etc. High-power LEDs have been widely used in automotive lighting.

③ Special lighting: Solar garden light, solar street light, underwater light etc. LED is quite suitable for building use due to its small size which is convenient for dynamic brightness and color control.

④ Background lighting: The mobile phone back-light display is the most widely used field in LED application such as back light of ordinary electronic equipment, laptop, large size and super large size LCD display.

⑤ Projection light: RGB light source for projector

⑥ General lighting: All kinds of general lightings and light source can be divided into commercial lighting and home lighting.
